King size or 100 mm: which cigarette tubes fit which machine
Cigarette tubes are not all the same length. The two standard sizes are king size and 100 mm. Most machines accept both, while some accept only one. Because the wrong size can lead to poor filling or a tube that does not fit onto the nozzle at all, it is worth understanding the difference before buying a larger pack.
Two tube lengths
King size is the standard cigarette length, approximately 84 mm. The vast majority of tubes on the market are this size, including all Dark Horse tubes in our range.
100 mm is a longer tube that holds around one fifth more tobacco. The cigarette lasts longer, while tobacco consumption per cigarette is also higher.
The diameter is standard for both sizes, so the machine nozzle fits both as long as the model supports the longer tube.

If you fill only king size tubes, you can choose any machine. If you want 100 mm tubes, choose any model except MINI.
Filter length is not tube length
A common source of confusion: the 15 mm and 24 mm markings on Dark Horse tubes refer to filter length, not tube length. Both versions are king size. A longer filter means less tobacco in the cigarette and a milder taste. Which filter version is right for you is explained on the Dark Horse brand page.
When to choose 100 mm
- when you want a longer cigarette and do not mind higher tobacco consumption,
- when you are used to 100 mm store-bought cigarettes and want a similar feel.
For everything else, king size is the more practical choice: cheaper per cigarette, available with more filter options and compatible with every machine.
If the tube does not sit properly on the nozzle
Check the tube size first and the machine second. A king size tube sits loosely on a machine set for 100 mm, while a 100 mm tube will not go all the way onto the MINI model.
