Powermatic 2+ or 4+: what is the difference and which one is right for you

Powermatic 2+ or 4+: what is the difference and which one is right for you

Powermatic 2+ and Powermatic 4+ are the best-selling electric cigarette tube filling machines in our range and also the two models customers most often choose between. Both are American-made products with the same patented spiral-free injection system, both fill 20 cigarettes in three to four minutes, and both work with king size and 100 mm tubes. The difference is therefore not how well they fill, but how they are used.

What they have in common

  • the same filling process: tobacco into the chamber, tube onto the nozzle, lever down,
  • a spiral-free injection system that pushes tobacco evenly into the tube,
  • a titanium blade that cuts off excess tobacco,
  • king size and 100 mm tubes,
  • approximately 20 cigarettes in 3 to 4 minutes,
  • one-year warranty and 30-day return period.

How they differ

Tobacco hopper. Powermatic 4+ has a larger hopper. If you fill twenty cigarettes at a time, you do not need to add more tobacco halfway through.

Shape and hand position. Powermatic 4+ is lower, so your hand position is more comfortable when pulling the lever. This becomes noticeable during longer filling sessions.

Internal frame. Powermatic 4+ has an aluminium-alloy internal frame made using CNC technology. The rigidity of the frame helps reduce the chance of jams.

Power switch. Powermatic 4+ has an on/off switch, while Powermatic 2+ does not.

Weight. Powermatic 2+ weighs approximately 1.5 kg, while Powermatic 4+ weighs about 1 kg. The lighter machine is easier to carry, while the heavier one stands more firmly on the table.

Spare parts. We stock the widest range of spare parts for Powermatic 2+: motor, injector spoon with guide, tube holder, base plate and blade with arm. For Powermatic 4+, a motor is currently available. If being able to replace an individual part after several years matters to you, this is an argument in favour of the 2+.

Which one is right for you

Choose Powermatic 2+ if you want a proven model with the broadest spare-parts support and do not mind its slightly taller design.

Choose Powermatic 4+ if you fill larger quantities at once and want a more comfortable hand position and a lighter machine.

Their prices are close, so let the way you use the machine decide, not the price. If you fill only occasionally and do not always have access to electricity, take a look at the manual models on the Powermatic brand page, where you will also find a comparison table of all models.

What applies to both

Both work best with tobacco that is not too moist. To learn how to store tobacco so it stays at the right moisture level, read How to store tobacco and homemade cigarettes. For a long service life, regular chamber cleaning is important, as described in our cleaning guide.
